The Secret of the Chromastone is the forty-second episode of Ben 10: Alien Force.

PlotEdit

When Ben catches a cold, he's pleased to see Tetrax (from the original series), but is caught off guard when Tetrax demands Ben give him Chromastone. Tetrax transforms Ben into Chromastone but instead transformed into Diamondhead. Ben doesn't even have a chance to explain what happened to Chromastone when Tetrax attacks him demanding that he handed him over. Tetrax shatters Diamondhead with a weapon and reveals Sugilite inside. Tetrax gives Sugilite a crystal which he absorbs, then Sugilite flies off to Petropia. Tetrax soon explains about why he needs Chromastone. He tells Ben, Gwen and Kevin about Chromastone being the only one to save Petropia, by using that crystal (Sugilite's back-up) which contains a crystallized back-up of Petropia and its people (which were destroyed by Vilgax).

Ben's situation gets worse when Vilgax shows up, demanding Tetrax to return the crystal Tetrax stole from him. Ben, Gwen, Kevin and Tetrax fight Vilgax until Kevin accidentally tells Vilgax what's going on when our heroes and Tetrax tried hiding in a secret warehouse in the sewer (which Gwen thinks is disgusting and stupid) but Vilgax finds them because of Ben's sneeze echoing throughout the warehouse. Vilgax flies to Petropia, while Ben, Tetrax, Gwen and Kevin go aboard Tetrax's ship and fly to Petropia. Vilgax soon arrives to Petropia and fights Sugilite, demanding he returns the crystal. Sugilite pleads for mercy, but Vilgax reveals he has none.

Ben, Gwen, Kevin and Tetrax arrive to Petropia, in order to protect Sugilite. Vilgax plucks the crystal off Sugilite, only to discover the crystal's power had been used up, throws it away and flies back to Vilgaxia. A dying Sugilite hands Ben a second crystallized back-up before fading away. Ben then turns into Diamondhead (revealing that Diamondhead knows what to do with the crystal) and climbs to the top of Petropia to revive Petropia's people. Diamondhead's actions revive both the Petrosapiens and Sugilite, who reveals to Ben that he is Sugilite, Guardian of Petropia and reveals that Chromastone still remains within the Omnitrix. Tetrax later flies Ben, Gwen and Kevin down to Earth. Meanwhile, Vilgax catches Ben's cold.

Ben: (Talking about Vilgax) I'll handle him! (Attempts to turn into Way Big, but ends up as Humungousaur) WAY BIG! Oh man... Stupid Omnitrix. (Pulls a street lamp out of the ground) Get ready to rumble, Vilgax, 'cause Humongosaur is gonna...gonna...gonna... Kevin: He's gonna blow! (dives out of the way while Tetrax runs for cover) Humongosaur: AAAA...TCHOOOO!! (Sneezes out a pile of phlegm which lands on Kevin's car) Gwen: Uggh, gesundheit! Kevin: You are so washing that.

Kevin: (on the road, Kevin driving fast as usual, suddenly sees a truck in front of him and horns) C'mon, C'mon, move it! (sees that the truck does not move) Oh! Is that how it's gonna be! (Kevin's car produces weapons to blast the truck) Gwen: Kevin! Kevin: What? Gwen: Anger management! Appropriate response! Kevin: Yeah, ok, no missiles. We're goin' off-road! (takes the shortcut and manages to overtake the truck) Ben: (Gwen turns around as Ben coughs and then says in a weak voice while laying down on the backseat) I don't think I'm gonna make it...... Kevin: Hang in there, hero! We're almost there! Gwen: Look! There it is! Kevin: (reaches Mr.Smoothies) One mango blueberry with extra lemon stat. Ben: (sits up and sneezes) .... Better make it a double. Gwen: (seeing that Ben is overacting, like he is going to die) Ok Ben, it's just a common cold. Ben: There's nothing common about this cold, Gwen. It's epic. (blows his nose with his hand) Gwen: (disgusted by Ben's act) You are completely disgusting, use a tissue. (hands him a tissue) Ben: I was gonna wipe my hands on my pants. Gwen: I swear, Ben, you're gonna get us all us sick! Kevin: (handing the prepared smoothie to Ben in the backseat) Here you go, Tennyson, the old Levin family cure. Ben: Really? Smoothies? Kevin: Nah, (pours a yellowish-brown color medicine in it) the smoothies's just so that you can gulp down the real cure. It's bitteroot ... (as Ben takes a sip) they call it that because.... Ben: (makes a vomiting sound and his mouth gets stuck to the straw as he stops drinking) Kevin: Anyway, it's good for a cold... also it's supposed to ward off bear attacks... drink up Ben: ( mutters something which is not understandable) Kevin: (as he and Gwen both turn to look at Ben) What? Gwen: He says he can't, his lips are puckered shut. Kevin: You can understand that? You should be a dentist!

Kevin: (After Ben starts to show off after he brings the Petrosapiens back to life) We're never going to hear the end of this, are we? Gwen: Not ever.

Jetray: Float like a butterfly, sting like a-huh? (Vilgax grabs him) Vilgax: I'll squash you like the insignificant insect you are!

Sugilite: I beg of you, do not do this. Vilgax: Why not? The crystal is mine. I paid for it. You're nothing but a common thief! (starts attacking Sugilite) Sugilite: Billions of lives are at stake! Vilgax: You should be concerned with preserving your own life.

• When Tetrax said fall back and regroup, Kevin's body was reciprocated twice.
• When Sugilite is talking to Ben at the end, he says "I am in your debt, as are all Crystalsapiens", instead of Petrosapiens.
  • However; according to Dwayne McDuffie, Sugilite "knows a secret".
• All of the Petrosapiens in the crowd appear to be adult males, and have Chromastone's body texture.
• Though Ben flew a short distance as Chromastone in Vengeance of Vilgax: Part 2 (just before he says Whatcha gonna do now, tough guy?), he acted as if he didn't know Chromastone could fly in this episode.

Naming and TranslationsEdit

TriviaEdit

• Due to the animation differences from Ben 10, many changes have been made to one particular scene: Tetrax witnessing the destruction of his home planet.
• When Kevin says "Don't worry, in space nobody can hear you sneeze. ", it is a reference to the famous 1979 film Alien tagline, "In space no one can hear you scream."
• When Diamondhead revived the Petrosapiens, no female or child Petrosapiens were seen.
• It is revealed that Chromastone can fly.
• Unlike Side Effects, Ben's alien transformations didn't have their powers affected. However, the aliens were weaker than normal.
